September is here and our biggest severe weather day this Summer may very well be tomorrow (Saturday)! This is one to take seriously. A strong cold front with very strong wind shear and very favorable conditions for severe weather is ahead on Saturday. Severe storms will fire up along a cold front around 1-2 PM from west to east! Southern VT, Western, southern, central NH into southern, western, central ME into Southern New England all in play here to see storms. Damaging winds are the primary threat and some hail within the strongest storms. We are seeing a look for a few weak tornadoes as well. A 2-4% tornado risk by the Storm Prediction Center which is pretty impressive for New England standards! We will likely see some discrete cells out ahead of the "main line" which those cells would likely be the ones to watch for any tornado activity but we will need to watch the main line as well behind those cells. Again, the primary threat is damaging winds in excess of 60+ MPH which can do a lot of damage! Storms should hit the coast by 5-7 PM and slowly weaken from there. Areas that see the strongest storms can expect 1-2" of rain with locally higher amounts. We will be keeping you all updated through the day on Saturday! Stay tuned to our Instagram and Facebook story for the latest updates and stay safe out there!
