SNOW INCOMING!
Ready or not here it comes! From 70 degrees to accumulating snow! Over the last few days I have been getting messages from some folks saying that winter is over. Are you sure about that?
A clipper system is expected to move into New England Friday evening and continue into Saturday AM with upslope continuing into Saturday across the mountains and snow continuing across Maine as a low pressure develops along coastal Maine. I am forecasting 3-5" across the Green Mountains, White Mountains into Maine even near the coast as you head north of Portland! I've added a few pockets of 5-8" across southern VT up towards Jay Peak and the elevations of the white mountains. This will be elevation dependent with a big increase in elevation. 1-3" for the lower elevations. With that low pressure developing across Maine, I wouldn't be shocked to see some more widespread totals of closer to that 5" amount especially across the Mid-Coast into the Down-East area. See the timing on the slides as snow moves in Friday evening into Friday night and continues across the elevations into Maine on Saturday. WINDS will be on the increase Saturday with gusts to 40 MPH especially across southern VT, NH into SNE. Likely lift holds at the ski mountains unfortunately on Saturday. Best chance to see those upper lifts running on Saturday will be across northern New England on Saturday before the wind increases up there for late Saturday aft-eve. Calm winds Sunday. Highs Saturday in the 30s and 20s (coldest across the elevations). Snow will be on the wetter side with a fluffier snow across the highest elevations.
We have rain on the way for Sunday night with the bulk of the rain falling Monday night as temps rise into the 50s so enjoy this snow while you can!
After Monday, we will go back to Winter temperatures with more snow opportunities into late March! Spring is nowhere in sight after Monday folks. SNE will see some more snow opportunities before we say goodbye to Winter. Stay tuned to our story for the latest updates!
