Good Sunday evening. Our busy weather pattern continues on! An active start to the week is expected across the region especially across the interior. Highs Monday climbing into the upper 70s, 80s tomorrow with significantly warmer temps Tuesday through Thursday! Highs in the upper 80s, low 90s Tuesday through Thursday! It is going to be hot!! "Feels like" temps in the mid-upper 90s across SNE into Southern NH, Maine away from the coastline. Highs still making it into the mid-upper 80s along the coast. Low-mid 80s for Cape Cod. By Friday we will cool things down with highs in the upper 70s, low 80s with low-mid 80s across Eastern New England. We will need to watch the potential for more storms on Thursday. Humidity looks to stick around all week!
⛈️ Downpours and storms developing Monday afternoon-evening with the risk for some localized flash flooding
A frontal system will be moving in from the west tomorrow (Monday). Scattered downpours/storms with a few severe storms are likely to develop across VT, NH, ME into SNE. Dew points in the upper 60s, low 70s will help squeeze out the moisture from these storms and downpours that do develop, so the Weather Prediction Center has issued a slight risk for localized flash flooding across Western Massachusetts into Southern VT through much of NH, far western ME down into the Mid-Atlantic. Storms and downpours that do develop will be slow moving which would be a problem with the localized flash flooding. We had a slight risk for flash flooding on Thursday with the major flooding across Sutton, VT but very VERY unlikely we see anything like that as this will favor areas away from far NNE and the modeling does keep the highest rainfall totals across the Hudson Valley into the Mid-Atlantic. Meanwhile the WPC (Weather Prediction Center) does have that slight risk into our region so the highest chance of localized flash flooding threat is there away from far NNE with a MUCH LOWER risk.
The future radar of a short term model below shows storms and downpours beginning after 12 PM and going through the evening hours but notice how they do not move much through the afternoon and evening, so where is does rain hard has the potential to see localized flash flooding into the evening. A few storms may be severe with brief damaging winds and hail but the biggest threat does look to be the localized flash flooding. Rain does continue into tomorrow night but slowly moving out by Tuesday morning as it moves east. SNE should be clearing out by 9 AM Tuesday with any showers and then we heat up!
