Good Wednesday evening! Here we go yet again! A surge of heavy rain with torrential downpours is set to impact NJ, NE PA down through the rest of the Mid-Atlantic into SW SNE on Thursday into Thursday night! The Weather Prediction Center has placed much of NJ, Eastern PA in a level 3 out of 4 risk for pockets of MAJOR flash flooding! A slight risk for flash flooding across southern areas of SNE but the highest concern remains across NJ, NE PA! Still can not rule out some pockets of flash flooding across CT, lower Hudson Valley. Please stay weather aware even across those areas! generally an inch to an inch and a half of rain across the rest of SNE away from SW CT. We saw major flash flooding across portions of NJ two weeks ago and I am afraid we will have a repeat on the way Thursday! A very favorable airmass for torrential rainfall in those areas and high precipitable water values will cause major flash flooding in spots! Rain increases Thursday afternoon and will continue into the evening before becoming lighter after 9 PM Thursday. Rain continues into Friday morning before tapering off but the heaviest will be moving out by 9-10 PM Thursday. Pockets of 6" PLUS of rain is expected across NJ into NE PA. It is impossible to pinpoint what exact towns will see the worst between 2-3" and over 6" but that will be a huge difference between a lot of damage and not much. Just like what we saw a few weeks ago in NJ folks. Please stay weather aware tomorrow and always move to higher ground when flash flooding is ongoing! Stay safe out there
