Good Tuesday evening. It has felt a bit like Summer over the last few days with some humidity and temps in the 70s and 80s! A cold front is on the way Wednesday. Rain will move into the western part of the region this evening and will continue to move east into the overnight hours. Steady rain expected across NNE into Wednesday morning before rain tapers off by Thursday afternoon. Rainfall totals of around an inch to an inch and a half across Vermont, Central, Northern NH into Maine. Less than an inch across SNE. NNE needs the rain badly so this will help a bit but won't break the drought. Highs Wednesday will be the warmest during the morning with the cold front sweeping through from west to east. Highs in the 50s across VT, much of NH, ME by the late morning into the afternoon and dropping across SNE by the afternoon as the front swings through. Temps take a dive Wednesday night as lows crash into the low 30s across NNE. Low 40s across SNE. Likely a coating-2" of snow across Mount Washington Wednesday night into Thursday AM with some lingering moisture. Can't rule out very minor accumulations across other peaks above 5,000 feet by Thursday AM. Bright sunshine Thursday but highs only in the upper 40s, low 50s across NNE. 50s across SNE. A brisk Fall day expected! The coldest night of the season so far is expected on Thursday night, Friday AM! Low temps will plummet into the 20s, low 30s across New England! A widespread frost and freeze is expected even to the coast. This will end the growing season. Temps rebound into the upper 50s, low 60s by Friday afternoon. Another bright sunny day expected. Temps in the 60s this weekend but we are watching the potential for a coastal storm in the Mid-Atlantic that may make it's way north. Saturday will be dry but If it tracks up into the region then we could be looking at strong winds along the coastline for Sunday into Monday with the potential for some heavy rainfall and coastal flooding. Right now the trends have been for this to stay pretty far south of Long Island but we will have to keep an eye over the trends during the next 2-3 days. We will keep you updated!
