Good Thursday afternoon! A decent snowstorm is ahead for Friday into Saturday morning for much of the region! Snowfall totals are expected to be highest across the Adirondacks into much of Vermont and New Hampshire where 5-8" can be expected! Lower totals across much of Maine and across SNE as mixing will lower totals across SNE. Use the range here! Lower elevations may be closer to 5-6" with the higher elevations having a bit of a better shot at seeing those higher numbers.
TIMING- Snow and mixed precipitation moves into SNE by the late morning, early afternoon on Friday across SNE. Plain rain can be expected in southern areas of SNE by the afternoon with snow changing to a mix across central and northern SNE before a quick change back to snow late Friday night. Can't rule out some mixing making it into southern VT but would be brief before a flip back to snow! Lower totals across SNE due to a lot of mixing. Many in that 3-5" across northern MA probably end up with around 3-4" ish in northern MA. Expect some sleet mixed with some freezing rain at times. Blue is snow, orange is sleet and pink is freezing rain on those future radar maps.
The afternoon and evening commute Friday is set to be an absolute mess with snow and mixed precipitation! Take it slow! The steady snow moves out by around 2-4 AM Saturday with some lingering snow showers in the morning. This will be a wetter type snow across SNE and a bit fluffier across the mtns with temps in the upper 20s. Low 30s across SNE
Ski mountains get excited about this one! Steady to heavy snow expected into early Saturday morning with an afternoon-evening start on Friday. What a weekend coming up to hit the slopes with some fresh snow! It's been a fantastic winter with no end in sight! Wind is not a concern with this.
Keeping a close eye on Sunday night-Monday as a strong coastal storm will pass offshore. Right now impacts look low with a mostly far offshore track but stay tuned as things can still change over the next few days!
