Good evening. It has been hot the last few days! We have some severe weather to track for Friday folks. Storms with heavy rain is expected Friday afternoon-evening. Highs Friday are expected to be in the 70s across NNE and low to mid 80s across SNE which is quite a bit cooler than what today was.
HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND STORMS are expected to develop around 1 PM Friday afternoon across New York into Central VT, Central NH right into Southern New England and are expected to quickly bubble up into more widespread bands of heavy rain, storms across those areas by 3-5 PM. My concern is highest for some flash flooding in spots. We do not have very much wind shear which is what you generally need for widespread severe storms. The lack of wind shear does help with SLOW MOVING storms and downpours. Therefor i am expecting storms, heavy rain that do develop to bring localized 3-4" maybe even 5" of rain in spots across southern VT, central NH into northern MA mainly north of the MA pike. Those high rainfall totals WILL NOT be widespread in those areas but a few towns in those areas will likely see over 3" of rain in 6 hours or less which has the potential to bring pockets of flash flooding. Even though we don't have much wind shear, i am forecasting a few storms out ahead of the main complex of rain to bring pockets of 40 MPH gusts with some small hail possible with lightning. After 8-9 PM the heaviest rain will be moving out but more widespread rain is expected on Saturday across New England. The bulk of the rain looks to fall across the same areas that will get the bulk of the rain tomorrow (Friday). When all is said and done by late Saturday evening, some spots could see 6" of rain between tomorrow and Saturday! Expected to be isolated areas but we need to watch for some flash flooding, road runoffs. By Sunday we dry things out with widespread highs in the 70s. Will feel very refreshing compared to the last two days! Partly to mostly sunny skies expected. Highs Saturday in the 70s as well but rainy.
